Secondo gli scienziati, in tutto il mondo solo un’aragosta su due milioni è di colore blu. Questa bizzarra caratteristica sarebbe dovuta a un difetto genetico che induce il pesce a produrre una quantità eccessiva di proteine. "Non sappiamo proprio cosa fare di quest’aragosta. Sarebbe molto bello - ha detto Cregeen - metterla da qualche parte per farla osservare dalle persone. È troppo bella per essere mangiata". L’ipotesi di ributtarla in mare è da scartare: a causa, infatti, del suo particolare colore è una facile preda per le altre aragoste. Non è comunque la prima volta che i cacciatori d’aragosta si trovano d’avanti esemplari così particolari. Nel 2006 il pescatore David Percy è riuscito a catturare un’aragosta gialla nell’Isola Whaleback (Usa). Le probabilità di trovare un’aragosta gialla sono ancora più basse di quelle di un’aragosta blu: circa una su 30 milioni.
